A 2006 graduate of Hanford High School in Hanford, Calif....Played junior varsity as a freshman and varsity as a sophomore, earning team MVP honors both years...Captained the Bullpups both seasons as well...Coached by Amber Block...Also competed in water polo (goalie) and track and field (high jumper) his senior year...A member of ASB and the Asian Club and served as president of the Volleyball Club...Between high school and club, he has played outside and opposite as well as middle blocker.
Club
Played for Fresno Volleyball Club for three years before changing to Central Cal for the 2005-06 season...Captained Central Cal and was named its MVP under head coach Rudy Barajas...Team won a gold medal at the 2005 Global Challenge in Salt Lake City.

Cullen Irons was born April 9, 1988 in Hanford, Calif....Parents are Jerry and Renee Irons...Has an older sister, Corey, a younger sister, Schuyler, and two older brothers, Dru and Garth...Majoring in business economics and hopes to be a land developer and contractor...A member of UCSB's Student-Athlete Advisory Board...Favorite class at UCSB is French...Lists Boston Celtics great Larry Bird as his most admired athlete...Top read is J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye"...Favorite food is sushi...Enjoys the work of actor Christopher Walken and lists his movie "Suicide Kings" as his favorite...Watches a lot of "Seinfeld" reruns...Best moment in sports was when his club team beat China for the gold medal at the 2005 Global Challenge...Also recruited by Long Beach State, Pacific, Pepperdine, Rutgers, UC Irvine, and UCLA.
