David Kennedy is expected to see an expanded role as a sophomore...Should be one of the primary backups at the four spot...A very athletic and strong player, Kennedy could emerge as he gets more experience.
2003-04
Kennedy played in ten games for UCSB as a redshirt freshman...Scored five total points and had seven rebounds...Had three points and two rebounds in a win over Westmont...Played a total of 23 minutes, including a season-high five in a double-overtime win at Cal State Fullerton.
High School
Attended Highland High School...As a senior he averaged 13.5 points, 15.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocked shots per game...Kennedy was an All-Golden League choice, All-Antelope Valley, Team MVP and Team Captain as a senior...He was selected Highland High's Athlete of the Year...Played for an Antelope Valley All-Star Team...Recorded career-highs of 22 points and 22 rebounds against Lancaster HS during his senior season...Coached by Jeff Smith.

David Kennedy was born July 2, 1984 in Anaheim, CA...Was recruited to UCSB as a volleyball player...Redshirted the 2003 season for Gaucho volleyball and then made the switch to basketball last year...Kennedy was the Valedictorian of his high school senior class...He was a 4.0 Honor Roll student in each of his four high school years...A member of the California Scholastic Federation...Also won Highland High's Scholar-Athlete Award and the United States Army Reserve Scholar Athlete Award...On the Golden State Examination, he won the Academic Excellence Award in Biology...In addition to basketball and volleyball, Kennedy competed in tennis and football as a prep athlete...Hobbies include coin collecting and computer games...Favorite sports teams include the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Yankees...His brother Michael is a member of the UCSB men's volleyball team...Majoring in business economics...The son of Elizabeth and Malcolm Kennedy.
